Federal judges have lifetime appointments. In 2025, about 2/3 of federal judges are Boomers and 65 or older. Watching YouTube videos hosted by lawyers commenting on Trump Admin losses in court, they point out the Federal judges are not just citing Constitution and Laws in their opinions but also adding moral judgements and thus fulfilling their role as the Prophet Archetype in the Climax Phase at the end of the 4th turning. Also, I've found GenX and Millennials aligning with the judges to form the response to the Climax Crisis.

That's a great observation about Boomer judges. Do you have a link as an example?

A 2023 blog post at the Cardozo School of Law cited a statistic that "approximately 66% of federal judges are 65 or older" but did not include any information on how that number was calculated, so it is of uncertain origin.

A 2024 NBC News article states that the average age of a federal judge is 69, a historic high for the judiciary.

Senior status eligibility: At age 65, federal judges become eligible for senior status, which allows them to significantly reduce their caseload while continuing to be paid.

I find it interesting that the Cardozo study also uses "gerontocracy" and describes it as perilous. Beware the Prophet archetype!

Sotomayor's dissent is at the back of this document, after the majority opinion....She is a Boomer at age 71, born 1953 or 1954.

Justice Sotomayor’s dissent in this case rates highly on the Prophet archetype scale. She ventures beyond strictly legal doctrine into a moral and civic protest. She fuses constitutional principle, vivid moral imagery, and warnings about excesses of governmental power. However, she retains enough legal reasoning, precedent citation, and careful procedural criticism to ground the argument.

Steve, I enjoy your opinion pieces and stories, so I'm nitpicking here. I'm constantly finding examples like this where the chart referenced in footnote 1, does not align with Strauss and Howe generation birth years for Boomers, GenX and especially not for Millennials. So basically just fiction to gather clicks and headlines. Demography unplugged hss a paywall.

Richard, I appreciate your kind comments. As for the birth years not lining up with Strauss and Howe, I know that happens all the time. I think the chart still makes my point. Are you sure there is no way to access Demography Unplugged? I thought they had some content available to free subscribers.
